If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. I planned a Tea Party for a group of children at Timeless Elegance Tea Room, after seeing a sign in the front window that said Plan your Child's Party here. The sign that should have been in the window was Children not welcome! The person that I spoke to on the phone gave me an attitude when I booked the party (should have been my first warning sign). But I tried anyways. I booked for 12 children and their mothers, asked for fruit, muffins and tea to be served and explained that the parents could add onto the items for the children if they desired. I was told the usual price was $10 a child, but since I opted for less food she said this price was high and would be adjusted at the time of the party. I was also told they had done this type of event before and had hats, teapots, etc for the children.

Upon arrival the children were seated and given teapots filled with various beverages. Then the servers asked the mothers what they wanted to eat. Only once the adult food was ready were the children's SMALL plate of fruit and ONE mini muffin served- even though this was
pre-ordered. And I had to ask for the hats (which were promised at reservation) to be brought out.

I thought the kids (all preschool age - which was stated upon reservation) were very well behaved. Yes, some tea may have been spilled on the tablecloths, but nothing was on the floor and nothing was broken. I would hope that the tablecloths would be changed out after our party anyways - so should be a moot point!

Upon leaving, the mothers about fell on the floor when they were hit with the bill - $10 per child for such a SMALL plate! But the owner stated that would include the tip - apparently she felt she was worthy of about a $5 per child tip! (which was ridiculous - because she seemed annoyed by the children right from the beginning)

I am not saying that the food was bad, it was good - but the atmosphere was less than inviting for our group.

Now here is where it all falls apart. We had a child that was sick the day of the party, and was heartbroken to miss it - so I re-booked a party for a smaller group. Again - attitude on the phone while booking - but maybe this employee just needed to work on phone etiquette.

We arrived with a much smaller group this time - and again teapots etc.... After about an hour we left - abruptly! The owner made it very clear that small children are not welcome there and treated as such, and was insulting and rude to the mothers. She was taking things away from the kids, which was poor business practices. If she was unhappy with anything - she should of addressed it with the mothers and let them handle it. I felt she was snarky to the mothers, and definitely giving a cold shoulder the entire time.

I guess that SEVERAL hundreds of dollars spent by our group in a 2 day time period were not valued. I will not return to The Timeless Elegance Tea Room EVER! Nor will I ever recommend it to anyone! In fact I will be sure to tell everyone I meet not to take their kids, their moms, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, or friends there.

Anyplace that has a sign in their window saying they book parties for children and then treats them poorly and with anything BUT elegance should be ashamed! If you do not want to host kids tea parties - then do NOT book them... especially twice. She even made a comment that she was unhappy with the first party to one of the mothers at the second party. She was made aware at the booking of the second party that it was a repeat! She had the opportunity to decline! But apparently she liked the large amount of money she made that day!

It is heartbreaking - because the kids (who thankfully had no idea what was going on) really enjoy a good tea party. Guess we will have to find somewhere that is child friend to host them. Maybe the competition of the bakery across the street will appreciate our patronage and in return our money!I
